3-Minute Thesis

3MT®, founded by the University of Queensland, is an academic competition that cultivates students’ presentation and research communication skills and challenges them to describe their thesis within three minutes to a non-specialist audience with one static slide.

We cordially invite you to join us as we gather to witness the live presentations of five exceptional finalists.

Date: Monday 15 April 2024, 16:00 - 17:00 (Algeria Time UTC+1)
Location: Amphitheatre

But that's not all! As a member of the audience, your voice matters. At the conclusion of the presentations, you will have the opportunity to cast your vote for the "People's Choice Award," selecting your favorite finalist from the impressive lineup.

The competition will be judged by a panel of experts, which will evaluate the presentations based on the official 3MT competition rules and select the three winners.

We look forward to your presence at this remarkable event.

Call for Submissions

We are delighted to invite research-based, in geosciences and remote sensing fields, master's or doctoral students, in progress or having recently defended (less than a year at the submission deadline), attending M2GARSS 2024 to participate in the Three Minute Thesis competition (3MT™). This prestigious academic competition, founded by the University of Queensland, is designed to enhance students’ research communication and presentation skills by challenging them to describe their thesis topic in just three minutes to a general audience using one static slide.

To participate, simply submit a 3-minute video describing your research and thesis topic to a video platform like YouTube or through a private URL accessible only by the evaluation committee. Your video will be evaluated in the first round based on presentation skills (40%), scientific quality (40%) and originality (20%) of the topic presented.

Top submissions will be invited to the final round, which will take place during M2GARSS 2024.

Winners will be selected, by judging panelists based on these competition rules, and awarded prizes along with certificates.

We are excited to announce that we will also have an audience voting system for the final round of the competition. This means that the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite presentation, and the participant with the most votes will receive the People's Choice Award.

For initial phase, please submit your video by November 30, 2023 through this form.

If you have any questions about the competition, feel free to contact us at: [email protected]

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to showcase your communication skills while sharing your research with a wider audience. We look forward to receiving your submissions!
